Explore the OT Link Platform Marketplace

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

OT Link Platform Marketplace is a local application repository where users can launch applications on demand, enabling edge-level analytics.  OT Link Platform provides a default set of applications in a public marketplace. Users also can add their own Docker container-based applications.

Explore marketplace options in these sections:

Prerequisite

  • Internet connectivity is required to deploy the Default Marketplace and to install applications. Once an instance is created, internet access is no longer required to create additional instances of the same application.

Public Marketplace

HPE and partner vendors populate this public repository. It is available to every OT Link Platform system, by default.

The following example shows a sample of the applications available in the default public marketplace.

Elasticsearch: Elasticsearch is a distributed, RESTful search and analytics engine.

Kx: This time-series database processes (in memory) real-time, streaming, and historical data.

Minio: Minio provides an open-source cloud object-storage server that is compatible with the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

MongoDB: MongoDB (from humongous) is a free and open-source cross-platform document-oriented database program.

SQL Server: Microsoft relational database management system uses the structure query language (SQL).

MySQL: This open-source relational database management system uses the structure query language (SQL).

PipelineDB: This open-source relational database continuously streams SQL database queries.

PostgreSQL: PostgreSQL, often simply Postgres, is an object relational database management system (ORDBMS) with an emphasis on extensibility and standards compliance.

Python: This application contains the Python programming language.

SCADA-TLS: Scada-TLS is an open-source, web-based, multi-platform solution for building your own SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.

To launch an application, simply click the application, select a script version, and supply the application-specific configuration parameters. In most cases, the default values can be used and only a name and description need to be supplied.

Default Marketplace

The initial OT Link Platform environment does not list any marketplaces, however, a default public marketplace can be added easily.

To add the default public marketplace:

  1. In the navigation panel, expand Applications and click Marketplace.
The initial window does not show any marketplaces or applications, but directs you to how to add a marketplace.
  2. In the navigation panel, expand Applications and click Configure.
  3. Click the (plus) icon at the top right of the window.
  4. In the Add Marketplace dialog, click Add at the right of the Default Marketplace.

The Default Marketplace Catalog now will be listed in the marketplace list.
  5. In the navigation panel, expand Applications and click Marketplace.
The applications for the default marketplace are displayed.

Private Marketplace

In addition to the Public Marketplace, OT Link Platform allows users to add a Private Marketplace. An organization, such as an OEM or systems integrator, can provide clients with a marketplace by leveraging custom applications that may have already been developed or need to be developed in the future. In addition, 3rd-party applications may also be run in this marketplace.

All applications in a client marketplace run within Docker containers. Each application runs its own dedicated container to ensure application isolation. To add an application to the Marketplace or to create a Client Marketplace requires a Docker registry. The Docker registry and credential information is available through HPE. HPE will provide access to enable you to control and manage applications it chooses to deploy in the Client Marketplace.
